UN forces intervene in Suez crisis
French paratroopers jump from their fighterplane on to Egyptian soil as soldiers on warships standby for landing preparing rifles and ammunition stores. Smoke rises from the shoreline at Port Fouad where troops wade ashore unopposed to a city controlled by UN forces. Captured Egyptians and POWs are led away; elsewhere off-duty Egyptian soldiers sit proudly beside a portrait of Nasser.
