Nationalisation of coal mines, 1947

Nationalisation of coal mines: NCB flag flying. Atlee and ministers attend formal handing over of the mines. Ernest Bevin arrives late and is greeted by Arthur Greenwood. Minister of Fuel and Power Mr Shinwell gives speech "Our industrial future rests in the hands of NCB." A copy of the Act is handed over and Atlee speaks "This the first day of a new era".
