Mikhail Gorbachev arrives in New York to announce military cuts

Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev arrives in New York to announce military cuts in a speech at the UN after which he meets Ronald Reagan for talks: Shows aerial view of New York. Reagan up steps of helicopter in Washington and waving as he leaves and as he arrives in New York. Gorbachev motorcade through New York and on ferry to Governors Island for talks. Reagan, Gorbachev and Bush shake hands. All three sit inside by fireside. Gorbachev answers questions from press. Reagan and Bush sit with others at dining table. Reagan says he "heartily approves" of Soviet army cuts. At dusk Reagan, Bush and Gorbachev stand on platform together and look at Statue of Liberty across harbour. Reagan says " read our smiles" to press and everyone laughs. Reagan and Gorbachev say goodbye to each other.
