First UK heart transplant completed in 1968

45 year old Frederick West becomes the first patient in UK to receive a heart transplant at the National Heart Hospital in Marylebone. Senior surgeon Donald Ross speaking at press conference describes the operation as a success. Wife and son at photocall, talk of operation and Mr.West's good spirits prior to the transplant.
