return from tour of South Africa: most pleasurable tour for some
time: not just because of the audiences, but because they had time
off to swim and sunbathe: there was a colour bar: played mainly to
Europeans: when they found out, they arranged two charity concerts
in Capetown and Salisbury and a concert to a mixed audience in
Port Elizabeth: playing to coloured audience was unforgetable
