The Many Faces Of Zorro
Zorro, the Latin Robin Hood, entertained generations of children and adults throughout the Twentieth Century. The story of Zorro was written by Johnston McCullay, and published in 1919. Just a year later, Douglas Fairbanks Sr. appeared in Hollywood's first adaptation, the silent film classic, The Mask of Zorro. The Spanish word for fox, the masked rider dressed in black is rich landowner Don Diego de la Vega in disguise, fighting the injustices of Captain Monasterio.
Hollywood remade the classic film in 1940 starring Tyrone Power and Walt Disney created a legendary television series in the 1950s with Guy Williams.
