Laurel and Hardy's Centennial

The magical pairing of Laurel and Hardy began in 1926 and the terrible twosome appeared over the course of three decades in 100 films. The featherbrained Laurel and short-fused Hardy appealed instantly: everyone in the audience could have a laugh at their idiocy and feel superior.

Their use of facial expression, timing and general buffoonery was loved by generation after generation. Laurel was the creative brain behind the act and wrote most of the story lines and gags. He lost his life-long friend and other half Oliver Hardy in 1957 and never performed again.
