Result Of USA Presidential Elections 2000

The United States presidential election of 2000 was won by the Republican candidate George W. Bush, governor of Texas and son of former president George H. Bush. Bill Clinton the incumbent President, had served the maximum two terms allowed and the Democrats chose Clinton’s Vice President Al Gore as their candidate.

Bush narrowly won with 271 electoral votes to Gore’s 266 but the election featured a controversy over who won Florida’s 25 electoral votes, which the Presidency finally hinged on.
