Soviet Troops Leave Afghanistan 1986

Soviet troops started to leave Afghanistan in 1986.

After Mikhail Gorbachev became Premier it became clear that the Soviet Union wished to find a face-saving way to withdraw from Afghanistan, especially after the seven principal rebel organisations formed the Seven Party Mujahideen Alliance to coordinate military operations against the Soviet army.
