Hollywood Remembers Shirley Maclaine
Little Shirley Maclaine, the big sister of Warren Beatty, started dancing at the tender age of two and made her first public appearance at four. She continued to perform as a youngster in local amateur groups, and broke out of the chorus line on Broadway by pure luck at the age of 20.
she demonstrated her considerable acting talent on-screen in Alfred Hitchcock's The Trouble with Harry, whilst her dancing skills also came to the fore in other films, most notably in Sweet Charity (1969). Nominated for Oscars for her work in Some Come Running (1959), The Apartment (1960), Irma La Douce (1963) and The Turning Point (1977), Maclaine finally won the Oscar for Terms of Endearment (1983).
