Hollywood Remembers Natalie Wood and Angela Lansbury
The dark beauty of the young Natalie Wood was noticed early on by talent scouts whilst filming in her hometown, and she entered the movies when she was five years old, already brilliant at ballet. Her subtle acting won critical acclaim in Rebel without a Cause (1955) alongside James Dean and Sal Mineo, and she was nominated for an Oscar.
In 1961 she played opposite Warren Beatty in Elia Kazan's Splendor in the Grass, and she won hearts as the doomed Maria in West Side Story.
