Marilyn Monroe was born Norma Jean Baker in 1926; Jayne Mansfield was born Vera Jane Palmer in 1933. Both, on the surface, were nothing more than busty, beautiful blondes, groomed for fame and glory on the studio production line.
Rivals from the mid-1950s to the early 1960s, both were gravely underestimated and both died tragically young. Jayne Mansfield married young at 16, becoming a mother at 17. Also having married at 16, Marilyn Monroe was, at 17, trying to end her life. Both achieved early success on account of their looks, one as a model, the other a beauty queen.
