Hollywood Remembers Janet Leigh
When Janet Leigh was signed to MGM in 1947, she was already twice-married and studying music at the College of the Pacific. Despite having no acting experience, she had a fresh-faced charm that led to several roles as 'nice' girls throughout the 1940s and 1950s.
When she met and married screen hunk Tony Curtis in 1951, her kudos increased and she won better roles. She appeared in two major thrillers - Orson Welles' Touch of Evil (1958) and Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960) - but her audience appeal lay more in comedy. Her daughter Jamie Lee Curtis also became a highly successful actress.
