Hollywood Remembers James Stewart

After graduating from Princeton University with a degree in architecture in 1932, James Maitland Stewart joined the University Players, based in Falmouth, and befriended Henry Fonda and Margaret Sullivan.

After Sullivan and Fonda's marriage broke down, Fonda became Stewart's roommate. Having achieved stardom by the time he arrived in Hollywood, she helped make his name and insisted that he be given parts in her films.

In 1940 Jimmy Stewart won an Oscar for The Philadelphia Story.
