Iraq War - Aggression Begins 2003
By March 2003 it was no longer a matter of if, but when the order to strike Iraq would come. Final preparations were being made among the British and American troops waiting across the border in Kuwait. In Baghdad, people awaited with fear and trepidation of the inevitable aerial bombardment.
On March 19th the first jets took off from USS Constellation in the Gulf on bombing missions over Iraq. Vice Admiral Timothy J Keating of the US Fifth Fleet commander announced that it was “hammer time”. In Washington, President Bush announced the start of hostilities.
