Hollywood Remembers George C. Scott
Prior to entering the film industry, George C Scott spent four years in the Marines and is well-known for his intense, often overpowering and instinctive acting. He played key roles in Anatomy of a Murder (1959), Dr Strangelove (1964), The Hustler (1961) and Patton (1970).
Scott is famous for being the first actor to refuse an Oscar, awarded for his performance in Patton, having denounced the Academy as a mere "meat parade" months before. He was also given an Emmy that same year, which he also refused.
