Hollywood Remembers Errol Flynn

Errol Flynn was, without a doubt, a real larger-than-life character. Born in Tasmania, to a marine biologist and a zoologist, he was expelled from several schools and at 15 left to work for a shipping company.

After arriving in England and working in repertory he won a Warner's contract and went to Hollywood in 1935 to star in the pirate film, Captain Blood. A natural swashbuckling lead, Flynn was tall, athletic, strikingly handsome and a brilliant swordsman. Amongst his many adventure films, The Charge of the Light Brigade (1936) and The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) stand out.
