Hollywood Remembers Debbie Reynolds
After winning the Miss Burbank contest of 1948, Debbie Reynolds achieved fame as the bouncy girl-next-door heroine of MGM, appearing in several musicals, including Singin' in the Rain (1952), before making the 'perfect' marriage to popular singer Eddy Fisher.
Despite the veneer of marital bliss, five years later Fisher ran off with Elizabeth Taylor, which made Reynolds even more successful, her career boosted by a massive wave of sympathy. Her films took a downturn in the 1970s, but she returned to the big time on Broadway in Irene and in a revue called The Debbie Reynold's Show, showcasing her talents.
