Death of Diana Princess of Wales 1997

On 31st August Princess Diana and Dodi al Fayed were both killed after an accident in a car crash in Paris. Paparazzi were blamed for their involvement in the crash chasing the couple when they left the Ritz Hotel.

The death stunned the nation and tributes produced a carpet of flowers outside her house, Kensington Palace in London. New British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, paid tribute to the princess’s warmth and care of the sick, dying and disadvantaged. The funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales took place in Westminster Abbey before her body interned at the family home.
