Hollywood Remembers Catherine Deneuve
The daughter of distinguished French actor Maurice Dorleac and younger sister of the late Francoise Dorleac, Catherine Deneuve made her screen debut aged 13. She became known through her work with Roger Vadim, but acquired leading lady status with the release of Jacques Demy's musical The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1963).
She became a star of international cinema in the late 1960s in films by Chabrol, Polanski, Bunuel and Deville and won an Oscar nomination for Indochine (1992).
