Hollywood Remembers Barbara Streisland
Working her way up through the ranks in New York cabaret, ambitious singer and actress Barbra Streisand won critical acclaim when she appeared in I Can Get It for You Wholesale (1962). Her career catapulted and winning recording contracts, spots on TV and the role of Fanny Brice in Funny Girl.
Initially a Broadway hit, the show was remade as a film in 1968 with Streisand's debut earning her an Oscar in a tie with Katherine Hepburn. She was awarded a Tony as 'Actress of the Decade' in 1970 and a second Oscar for her song Evergreen from the 1977 remake of the film A Star is Born.
