Academy Award Winners First 50 Years: Volume 9
The Oscars moved to the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in Santa Monica, California in 1961. By 1969, the Academy decided to move the ceremonies back to Los Angeles, this time at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in the Los Angeles Music Center.
Between 1960 and 1965 Hollywood undergoes a time of change. Films awarded the Oscar include West Side Story, Lawrence of Arabia, Hud, Elmer Gantry and The Hustler.
