AIDS Epidemic 1985

In 1985 celebrities including Jane Seymour, Cher and Stevie Wonder attended a benefit dinner for an AIDS charity organized by Elizabeth Taylor.

Actor Burt Lancaster read a statement from his friend, Rock Hudson, who died of the disease shortly before the dinner. It was part of a campaign to make the world aware of the disease and to campaign against the stigma that was being attached to contracting it.
